In addition to the natural focus on Sri Lanka’s overwhelming world of spices, every now and then you will also encounter the influence of our European and Austrian roots. For example, we brought our very own jam recipes with us from Austria, which also happen to work very well with Sinhalese fruits. And our kitchen team has also learned to make a selection of pastries that taste just like what Grandma Hollmann used to whip up.
So, whether the mangoes from our own fruit stand, the morning “egg in a glass” with a hint of Sinhalese at the restaurant, or chicken curry enjoyed out on the terrace in the evening, we are certain to find something perfect for your palate.

are a matter of course for an establishment that is particularly proud of its professional Ayurveda expertise. The rich tradition of Asia in the preparation of meatless dishes further enhances our kitchen team’s culinary skill in bringing extraordinary dishes to the plate that taste quite astonishing. Whether fish or meat happens to be there, or not.
Just as we give guests the opportunity to book a stay that includes vegetarian or vegan dining appropriate to every treatment program, we also pay close attention to the needs of persons with certain food intolerances. After all, the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach – and we would be delighted, naturally, if you would fall in love with UTMT.

Bar, Cocktails
There is no better way to cap off a good day then with a good drink. As well as a good chat with your travel companions or new acquaintances. Punctuated by the occasional chinking together of glasses, this is the perfect opportunity to swap memories and experiences of the day.
After sunset, some guests will treat themselves to a shot of the “hard stuff”, such as an old arrack, whereas others might opt to have a bottle from our excellent wine collection in the cellar decanted for them. And because the island is not exactly renowned for its world-class vintages, we ensure that our cellar is always stocked, just in case, with finest wines from Lower Austria.
On the other hand, aromatic cocktails, imaginative compositions of fruits and juices, make it quite easy to forgo alcohol completely. Either just because, or because you owe it to your Ayurveda treatment program. And let’s face it, you can even relax and mellow out after a full day in the UTMT bar over a simple glass of water if you prefer.
